monarch butterfly
by a pink wall dances
with its shadow

I wait for you
by the castle wall—
cherry blossoms fall

the ocean roars—
I hear you over
the waves’ beat

waterfall
above us
rainbowed mist

blossoms:
the first and last
delight the heart

Last summer’s loving
has given way to fall: leaves
accumulate where
we walked hand in hand, fill
the roofless house where we made love.
