the whole bed
yet she lays her head
on my chest

mountain peak
flaming
the trees below

charred earth
silence in the air
Hiroshima

clouds fight
for more sky—
thunder claps

late summer day
an empty coke can
words escape me

silent conversation—
my body
felt her every word
