Crystallines by Florence Vilén
A VERNAL SEQUENCE OF CRYSTALLINES
The first wave of blossom receding
small white petals litter the ground.
The bird-cherry heavy with fragrance,
I step inside its floral tent.
Late spring adding reds to its blues,
an irregular hedge of lilacs.
Planted for joy, not future fruit,
deep pink branches blushing with blossom.
Twilight prolonged until all hours,
we draw closer to summer solstice.
