Sky

threatening black clouds
drifting over st. john river
bring a blizzard

 

FEBRUARY
Death

owl drifts—soundless—
rabbit screams as talons grab
red snow flurry

 

MARCH
Flight

flight of snowbirds
circling valley snow
they land to feed

 

APRIL
Flowers

trilliums festoon
April valley's rich forests—
harbinger of spring

 

MAY
Land

tractor growls
preparing sun-leavened field
for potato crop

 

JUNE
New Life

fields of potatoes
bring life to river valley,
hope for the future

 

JULY
Animals

new pastoral scenes
cattle and horses roam
on valley pastures

 

AUGUST
Time

time invades valley
potato and fruit brighten
fields and trees with bloom

 

SEPTEMBER
Water

lack of rainfall
threatens the crops
water is needed

 

OCTOBER
Loss

farmers forecast loss
as crops fail to grow to
full potential

 

NOVEMBER
Aquatic Life

river ice appears
sending all aquatic life
into long winter

 

DECEMBER
Family

time to be jolly
during the December days
of shopping, loving
