JANUARY
Sky

a weed high in the gum tree
morning glory
bluer than the sky

FEBRUARY
Death

the scent lures me
over hot sand and stones
seal's death snarl

MARCH
Flight

tattered wings
in among fallen leaves
butterfly's last flight

APRIL
Flowers

Easter over
drops of wax on the table
faded flowers on the compost heap

MAY
Land

close to non-vision
Mt Donna Buang
in the autumn mist

JUNE
New Life

almost winter solstice
all through the dark night
wattle prepares to bloom

JULY
Animals

a drab grey light
and a ginger-furred dog
behind the rosemary

AUGUST
Time

shadows lengthen
a blue deck chair
empty on the paving

SEPTEMBER
Water

moss between the bricks
expands
sound of water

OCTOBER
Loss

the tree outside my door
studded with green buds
but I cannot find your face

NOVEMBER
Aquatic Life

rockpool reflects the sky
below, creatures move
carrying on their lives

DECEMBER
Family

in the east indigo glooms
sisters hunch on the dunes
facing the afterglow
