Haiku for the twelve months of the year
from around the world.

Poet:     Jasminka Nadaskic Diordievic               Region:     Yugoslavia

January

flock of bright stars
over frozen trees -
sparkling together

February

from the wet small branch
sparrow flies off to the sky -
rain drops behind it

March

spring turbulent breeze -
through the opened door
scent of violets

April

a patch of fog -
by the fig-tree stump
lily of the valley

May

carried by the wind
a butterfly drops into
dandelions' sea

June

along the railroad
poppies waving to trains
horses grazing ...

July

oppressive heat -
a bird emerges
from a puffy cloud

August

summer afternoon -
the scent of evergreens
slowly spreading

September

into the picture
of wet skies over Belgrade
has run a rainbow

October

Boring autumn rain
water forest. One by one,
leaves are going wet.

November

first cold snap -
the sun is overshadowed
by wild geese

December

starry night -
frost patterns grow
from the window's edge
