STEPHANIE HANSON

Three Cinquains

night sky
rise quarter moon
into silence upward
past tiled roofs to push twinkled stars
farther

sunset
glows on water
beach play is quiet now
particolored rays disappear
in dusk

sunrise
the stars have gone
as moon fades in dawn light
sun is left to raise the sky of
morning

Midnight

the chill wakes me
out of warm embrace
I disentangle our bodies
climbing over you
in darkness stumble
then stirring embers
to spark the fire
flames lick the kindling
until bright heat
mesmerized I watch
the dancing
of the flames
caught up in their
rhythmic beat
until gentle stirrings
behind me startles
awakening midnight
I place one last log
carefully climbing back
under the covers
your warm embrace
softly welcomes me
I hear your heartbeat
steadfast reassurance
in sweet caress I sleep

My Man

I want to linger
here with you
enfolding me
in silent mood
mid of night
moon is full
shining down
splendid jewel
in your wisdom
keeping night
you are for all time
a wondrous sight
my man in the moon

From The Blue

soft sand beneath my feet
water splashes as I wade
looking to the sunrise
I wonder if you are awake

picking up a little shell
dust it off to save for you
I will give it to you later
a small token from the blue

While You Are Here

while you are here
replete my soul
hear my heart
let me have yours
make these lips
delightfully laugh
find the future
in my eyes
hold me close
kiss me now
capture my love
give me memories
before you leave
