Modern English Tanka is a print and digital quarterly journal, published in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, that specializes in tanka. [ CURRENT CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS ] The editor of Modern English Tanka, Denis M. Garrison, is also the owner of TankaCentral.com. "Modern English Tanka is dedicated to publishing and promoting fine English tanka (including tanka written in cinquain and cinqku set forms). We are interested in both traditional and innovative verse of high quality and in all serious attempts to assimilate the best of the Japanese waka/tanka genres into a continuously developing English short verse tradition. In addition to verse, we publish articles, essays, reviews, interviews, letters to the editor, etc., related to tanka. " It is the successor to Haiku Harvest, which Garrison edited and published from 2000 through 2006.

Atlas Poetica is edited by M. Kei. It is a Journal of Poetry of Place in Modern English Tanka. This is a biannual journal in a letter-size format. The first issue will publish in Spring 2008.

Prune Juice is edited by Alexis Rotella. It is a Journal of Senryu and Kyoka. This is a biannual journal in a pocket book size format. The first issue will publish at the end of 2008.

Modern Haiga has a board of editors and has year-around open submissions. It publishes graphic poetry in an online annual collection, from which an annual print edition (a full-color perfect bound book) is selected. 2008 is the inaugural issue.

GUSTS : Contemporary Tanka - Tanka Canada publishes Canada's first English tanka journal biannually.

Eucalypt : a tanka journal is the first tanka-only journal in Australia. Edited by Beverley George in New South Wales, Australia. Opened in 2006.

Magnapoets has an entire section devoted to tanka, as well as a short form section. Anthologies are in the works, devoted strictly to tanka and haiku; see: Magnapoets Anthologies. Magnapoets has both print and digital publications.

American Tanka is edited by Laura Maffei. "Founded in 1996, American Tanka is dedicated exclusively to presenting contemporary English-language tanka. Published yearly, the journal has a world-wide circulation and its list of contributors regularly includes many of the most well-known tanka poets of today."

Paper Wasp haiku, senryu & tanka magazine is published in Queensland, Australia.

White Lotus, edited by Marie Summers, publishes tanka.

The Tanka Journal "The Japan Tanka Poets' Society edits and issues twice annually a modest publication, THE TANKA JOURNAL, with an aim to encouraging people to write tanka in whatever language as well as to introduce modern and classic tanka works of the country by translation, mostly English and/or French. Tanka works in English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Chinese, Bengali, etc. have appeared in the magazine to date." /moonset/, THE NEWSPAPER is edited by an'ya, in Oregon, USA. [Moving by January 2009 to Moonset at Google] Its Mission Statement reads: "moonset, the newspaper is dedicated to creating, in one publication, the poetic and visual-studies of Japanese art forms, written by all peoples and nationalities worldwide, but with due respect to Japan’s ancient culture."

Lilliput Review is edited by Don Wentworth and considers poetry up to ten lines in length for publication. Be sure to read the submission guidelines at the website.

Tundra: The Journal of the Short Poem haiku, senryu & tanka magazine edited by Michael Dylan Welch. "Tundra seeks submissions of primarily objective and imagistic short poems of 13 or fewer lines."
