“Sushi Noh”
Trapped in the care of her lonely uncle, a young girl’s nightmares about a bizarre kitchen appliance manifest into reality.
An interest in exploring the quality of children's night terrors inspired this film. Reflecting on my past, my nightmares in my early years were distinct from those I have as an adult- they weren't mired in social anxiety or fear of physical harm, but rather an incomprehensible state of unease due to my impressionistic and malformed understanding of the world around me. My fears were illogical and invisible to my parents, further isolating me with phobias that felt specific to me. SUSHI NOH is an exploration of the weird, absurd and grotesque- qualities that ignited my subconscious then and continue to do so today.
