I wanted to illustrate the mundane aspects that occur after a death. The loss of life, whether fresh or old, is permanent. The only thing that can change is whether you take a step forward each day to continue your own life. Though I'm not a father, I have witnessed many parents close to me lose their son or daughter over permanent choices that were made, resulting in the end of their life. Few things are more profound to me than what a child means to their parent; the purpose that is laid upon you in taking care of that person, that then grows up to make their own decisions. Shot on 16mm film to highlight the importance of decisions, and the idea that each roll of the camera was starting something new. Each take imprinting a physical mark of the story we aimed to tell.
