Filmmaker Statement

An immigrant to Canada and the father of two young kids, I moved to provide a better future for my family. In 2018, the world learned about laws that countries were imposing to separate children from their parents as punishment for trying to cross the border. There was a range of emotions that ran through me. Fury, frustration and helplessness to name some of the prominent ones. ALIENATION is the product of those feelings. ALIENATION is a statement on the consequences of children being separated from parents due to political or religious reasons. There is a huge movement across the world to close borders. If it is not happening in the Americas, it is happening in Afghanistan and now in Ukraine or even in India, my motherland where religious conflicts have risen and children are it’s worst victims. And the statement is simple - when children suffer, they carry the burning torch in their hearts. ALIENATION furthers my journey as a filmmaker who wants to tell genre stories that matter.
