Filmmaker Statement

As a writer/director, I typically tell quiet, internal, character-driven stories. When approaching this project I wanted to expand myself as a filmmaker and I wanted to try to force myself to think bigger and to work on a larger scale. With two months to go from ideation to completion I had one goal in mind: tell an epic queer love story. Because of the challenges of the timeline I was constantly pivoting and adapting to try to find the best story. As I got into the making of the film, I realized the story had a rich emotional landscape that caused me to process my relationship with grief and love. When unpacking my relationships with those I love the most, the one thing that kept coming to mind was the song lyric, "I love you in a place where there's no space or time." Constantly coming back to the feeling of those lyrics made me realize the "epic-ness" that I was chasing wouldn't be found in the scale of the film but in the depth of the love the characters held for one another.
