This piece is part of the upcoming variety series Feels Like Now, which uses poetry, sketch comedy, music, and storytelling to explore how Austinites are feeling right now about life in Texas. Watch the teaser here: https://vimeo.com/743778925 and learn more here: https://www.flnatx.com/ Late 2021, the creator/director, Sarah Kuck, asked me to be part of this series and shape the comedy element of what it feels like to be living in Austin during this time. I wrote a painfully honest sketch (try guessing which parts are made-up and which are factual) and enlisted the help of my ridiculously talented friend and writer/actor Haley Alea Erickson to bring some of her own baggage to this piece. After a holiday season of COVID case spikes, we were finally able to come together on my patio in Austin in January 2022 with our tiny and cautious crew. It became a delightful (and somewhat depressing) outlet for how we've all REALLY been feeling the last few years. Truly, honestly.
