Filmmaker Statement

Jacob Ramsay is an American director based in Prague, Czech Republic. He blends documentary and fiction filmmaking techniques, collaborating with non-actors, whose characters' lives run parallel to their own. His films meditate on themes of family, often focusing on transitional moments when a character must leave something, or someone, behind. Before moving to Prague, Jake worked with legendary directors in New York City, including Martin Scorsese, Greta Gerwig and the late Jean-Marc Vallée.
