"Ananke" is a beautiful and tragic film that is based on the real story, depicting addiction through metaphorical personification as a mysterious lover and friend, Ananke. This film is about how addiction feels to provide more understanding for the addicts and attempt to remove stigmas, as well as to show how strong any person can be. The story was inspired by my bisexual friend that I knew back in school, and who really struggled to fit in, which led her to extreme drug abuse, severe mental issues and self-harm. She was rejected by her parents: her father was working all the time and her mother had bipolar disorder and didn't want to care for her, so at the age of 15 she was living with her tutor in run-down apartment. She was constantly struggling to build any meaningful romantic connections. She fell in love with another addicted girl, and this girl was forcefully put in rehab, but my friend didn't know, so she thought she was kidnapped, and she would look for her girlfrie
