Filmmaker Statement

Backyard Barber is one of six short films in Bizarro World, a series of unrelated stories unfolding in a slow zoom-in. Every film is based around the idea of what we consider to be bizarre. We stick to a simple format in the series as the main follows their underlying motive to reach a materialistic or social goal (car, haircut, etc.) as the antagonist makes it difficult for the protagonist to achieve this goal with amusing and outrageous actions. Thus building the conflict until the very end as the antagonist finally reveals the truth behind their “bizarre” behavior. Our goal is to show the subconscious inconsideration that we all have towards others.
