Filmmaker Statement

My earliest memory of being affected by a film was the first time (and subsequent dozens of times) I saw Michael Jackson's Thriller, directed by John Landis. The first time kind of traumatized me, but I was quickly able to revisit it and became fascinated by it. Shortly thereafter my family had a copy on VHS which included a fantastic behind the scenes featurette that introduced me to the world of SFX Make-up and from that point on I became a huge fan of horror films and literature. All these years later, I still love narrative music videos and when I heard the new album by Blood Handsome, I thought there might finally be an opportunity to try my hand at a format I've loved for so long. What's interesting is that a monster that so thoroughly frightened me a as a child has since become a massive part of the cultural zeitgeist, to the point where there are toys, cartoon shows, and more aimed at children. This is my attempt to make something meaningful that people of all ages can enjoy.
