Filmmaker Statement

Tuğçe Evirgen Özmen delves into the essence, the significance and power of the superconscious state of existence/the awakened state of consciousness, that transcends and liberates the being from its constraints, roots of self-concept, ego, identification, and discursive thinking. Once things are confronted and perception is transcended, as well as the impact of both consciousness and subconscious states on the formation of perception and the construction of language and identity through the lens of it. The existential balance between the two being and self states is explored: the self, based on perception created by consciousness and the subconscious, and the being state, the essence, revealed by the awakened state of consciousness. She relies on an unconventional, symbolic, and dream-like quality of narrative using a combination of techniques including live action, 2D animation, CGI, and compositing.
