Filmmaker Statement

The writer and director of “Body Paragraphs”, Erika Lobati, attempts to transform her memories as a full-figured black woman into an engaging and vibrant story. The film explores the inner psychological struggle of self-esteem against the backdrop of a society that fears unconventional beauty. Through this capstone film, Lobati hopes to re-evaluate body image and manifestations of confidence amid fatphobia.
