Filmmaker Statement

As passionate consumers of food media, we were inspired to make a food show that wasn't about high-profile chefs who create expensive food for a small, select group of people. Instead, we wanted to bring beautiful food cinematography and thoughtful filmmaking to the people who feed New Yorkers daily. It was important to us to cast talent who reflect the diversity of the people they feed and especially to amplify the voices of female-identifying and nonbinary folks. As female-filmmakers, it was paramount we matched this diversity behind the camera, and we're proud to say our production crew was entirely female-identified and/or nonbinary. We've often said that Breadwinners isn't the $90 plate from the tasting menu. It's a chicken pot pie: warm, filling, and made to nourish. We loved making it, and we hope you enjoy it.
