Filmmaker Statement

Told through the lens of Live Action, Animation, and Home Video, By a Thread follows my mom and grandma in a transformative time in both of their lives. Throughout this process, my mom and grandma taught me the beauty of love and how to have continued strength through challenging times. By the time it came to editing the film, I almost couldn't do it. I had a camera in my hands for so long that I started to question how to even craft this story. Hour and hours of footage sat before me. Seeing my grandma alive and well again was really hard, it didn't feel like she was gone. The grieving process really didn't start until the release of the film. I'm grateful that I can put my mom and grandma's relationship in the center of this film. Their love for each other speaks volumes, and I hope those who watch the film can feel impacted by their warmth.
