CANDY KANE is a film I’ve wanted to make since I was 15. It just took me 15 years to write it and put the proverbial horse before the cart. I remember in the summer of 2003 I had written a synopsis of what would eventually become the feature version of this script. My naïveté was in full swing. I was calling rental shops to get prices of camera packages to shoot a feature...before I even had a single page of the script written...and before digital cinema cameras were even a thing. I made CANDY KANE with myself , a friend, a kid, a kitten, my dad and a 16mm camera. We shot it in my hometown, at my dad's house, and in the neighborhood where I grew up in Canada. There was no need for any production design, because everything was already exactly where it needed to be.
