I was back home with my parents and I heard a story about my Uncle who is a landlord. He went to check on one of his houses because he hadn't heard from the tennant in a while, and when he got there he saw that the locks had been changed. From here he had to go and get some equipment to break into his own house and when he did, he saw that it had been turned into a cannabis farm. There was cannabis everywhere, except for one of the rooms which had a dirty mattress on the floor. The person who was living there had heard my Uncle trying to get in and ran away, but it set me on a path of research as I thought this kind of thing only happened in London, not in Northamptonshire. After one google search it quickly became apparent that this was a case of modern-day slavery, which I wasn't even conscious of at the time. There are now more people enslaved now than at any time in human history, we are just a lot better at hiding it.
