Many nuances come with being HIV positive that I feel have not been explored. A person living with HIV is more than a death sentence. It comes with experiences and problems of its own outside of health. This story is unlike what other people focus on regarding on-screen LGBTQ narratives. I want to step away from romance and coming out and put a spotlight on a group of people in the queer community that don't have stories that may look like theirs. I've become passionate about POC and queer representation and hyper-aware of these groups' roles in cinema. Being queer and black, I didn't see myself on screen as I grew up. The few pieces of representation that existed were singular and did not coexist. I plan to give space for these stories to exist. I not only want to normalize but actualize genuine and authentic narratives about the unique and nuanced experiences POC and queer people go through daily.
