COMPLICATED ORDER is inspired by my real experiences coming out, moving way too fast in a new relationship, playing house in her apartment and ordering all of our favorite foods to share with each other. Fast forward to the bad break up, the communication blackout, and Postmates, of course, returning to its natural state: ordering too much food for one person. Ultimately, this story is about the paralyzing fear of embarrassing yourself in front of your ex and the lengths you'll go to avoid doing so, but finally learning to let go and realizing your worth has nothing to do with what anyone else thinks of you. There is a very specific pain that comes with your first Queer break up…finally finding a relationship that feels like the right fit…only to realize that love won't solve all of your problems. Rude. COMPLICATED ORDER is a lesson in how to find strength in heartbreak–even when you think it might embarrass you to death. This short is chaotic, cringe, and altogether heart warming and I can't wait to bring it to life. My goal is to adapt COMPLICATED ORDER into a feature length film in order to explore themes of late blooming queerness in a larger format.
