This is a film about love, loneliness, and finding human connection in our technological age. Ruminating during the pandemic about our increasing reliance on our smartphones, our increasingly casual clothing, our increasingly solitary habits, and our increasingly warming and dangerous planet led me to imagine the satirical, eerie world in which Computer Love takes place. Our film couldn't be of the moment without touching on our political climate, identity, classism, and toxic masculinity. At its core, though, this is a star-crossed love story between a human and a machine. Like many of us in the present, Quinn is desperate for connection. She's trapped in a future inhabited by selfish, transactional people. How can we be sure her relationship with Michael is the real deal? We can't. But does it matter?
