Filmmaker Statement

I’ve come to learn that the films I want to create are less about entertainment and more about awareness, and Damsels is certainly that. This film is contains a message that I believe is lacking in the film and media industry, and one that is very important to me. Being a woman of the LGBTQ+ community, I have certainly faced discrimination for simply being me, and I know most of other women have too, which is why I wanted to create a film that represents the beauty and pain that we woman face daily. I wanted this project to be an entire experienced that involved as many women from the community as possible, and did as much research as I could to ensure I am not only representing women as best as I possibly could, but to also make sure I was not insulting or discrimination anyone who does not identify as a woman or does not experience the beauty or hardship that is talked about in the film.
