Filmmaker Statement

This film really came together in a “perfect storm” kind of way. We were itching to shoot a story any way we could, without waiting for a budget to come our way. So that’s exactly what we did. In December of 2022, we found ourselves in an empty beach town during off season and decided that this would be the perfect opportunity for us to try out a story we had been working on. While we did have the premise, blocking, and storyboards developed, all of the dialogue was completely improvised. Using only available resources we found around the house, like two iPhones and a step ladder, we shot the film over the course of one night. We wanted to create an uncomfortable and suffocating space within what would usually be considered paradise or a get-away. Our love for satire and dark comedy really motivated the plot of this story.
