How does one navigate the unavoidable tension between ego and altruism when the expectations of a loved one are unmet? What constitutes a balanced and reasonable level of self-centeredness for both oneself and the other? And, how to manage the idea of a common future when everyone says you are a “dream couple”? The film centers on liberation and the courage to tear off the bandage. Eurydice is uneasy in her relationship with Orpheus. He is busy and has limited time for her. As a popular artist, he effortlessly meets the expectations placed upon him. Is Orpheus an altruist towards society or narcissistic when in the spotlight? Indeed: people need Orpheus and his art. His music, his openness (or rather, the emotional state embodied by the figure, "Orpheus, the artist," in public) enriches, inspires, and resonates with their emotions. Alternatively, is he simply a delegate/representative for buried aspects that listeners hesitate to notice or bring forth? The film’s idea centers on what unfolds for Eurydice after Orpheus has permanently lost her. Since death in the legend of Orpheus and Eurydice is not non-existence but rather an existence in the non-earthly realm, the following questions arise: How is Eurydice? What is she doing? What are her thoughts/feelings? How should/can we (earthly beings) imagine her no-longer-being?
