Filmmaker Statement

Hi everyone! It’s been over a year since the release of the last short film I had directed and written. The idea of this film came to me last year, being the hopeless romantic that i was and still is. I made major changes to it within the past month and thought I was finally ready to make it so, here we are! The project was filmed and edited within a week. it had been insanely fun to create with my friends and to just being able to step into my filmmaking shoes again, which was something I was unable to make time for during the school year. This film was mostly experimental on my end. I wanted to play with shots, pacing, and really anything out of my comfort zone to see my growth over the past year. I’ve learned a lot making this film and especially learning to be less critical of my work. I tended to be a perfectionist and sabotage myself in the way, but I let myself loose this time! That’s how the name, DICKHEAD, came to be. I wanted the film to be fun, and it was! I hope you have just as much fun watching this film as I had creating it. Lastly, thank you to the small crew consisting of my friends, because this film would not have been possible without them acting and being my PAs all at once. ❤️
