Filmmaker Statement

Note from Fashion Designer Noemi Braun: During the semester we regularly visited a local youth prison where each one of us got to work together with an inmate. This project retells the experience I had at the prison with my project partner who was awaiting his trial at the time. Despite our different backgrouds, lives and the fact that we did not speak the same languages there was a certain mutual understanding and respect for one another. The construction of the garments is heavily based on each of our specific body language in moments of uncertainty and insecurity, as those are emotions we share. The projects explores how we interact with the things we wear as well as themes of empathy, generational angst and the desire for predictability in a world that neither one of us understands quite yet.
