Filmmaker Statement

'DIRIGENT' comes from a spur of the moment idea I had whilst commuting through Oxford; I saw a supremely talented violinist performing beautifully, yet no one seemed to notice, or express their recognition beyond the most menial of floating glares. I thought about the anguish of the neglected artist, and thought about the story that must've led them to the the streets instead of stardom. I then worked backwards in a sense, and came up with the character of Oliver, who suffers a similar fall from grace. Writing and eventually directing 'DIRIGENT' was a wonderful experience that I not only learned a lot from, but had the chance to work with some wonderful people and realise an idea very meaningful to me. From the very first action call, to the last of the arduous editing process, I am very content and proud with this film, and hope you enjoy!
