Filmmaker Statement

Drawing from personal experiences, the film is an exploration of the nuanced complexities of desire, identity, and fantasy, and how they intersect with coping with unfulfilled potential. Set amidst Sri Lanka's growing economic crisis and rapid urbanization, the story explores the struggle of middle-class youth whose aspirations are stifled by socio-political and cultural pressures to conform, leaving little room for individuality. The only safe haven for self-expression is within their own dreams. While the film is grounded in a specific cultural context, I believe that its themes are universal and will hopefully resonate with audiences worldwide. I invite viewers to join me on this journey of self-discovery and take away their interpretation of the story. Here's to embracing our dreams, even the hopeless ones.
