UMNIA - "In DOPAMINE, I tried to capture Internet Overwhelm - the feeling of overstimulation that became all too familiar during the pandemic, that has fueled hyper-comparison, fiction and fantasy escapism, dissatisfaction and political apathy and anti-apathy in my generation. During the pandemic, KEVIN SMITH was a huge source of stability, and the constant discussion online about the 'Return of the 90's' was a huge influence on the Camp visual language we employed, and the references we used. The Original Script, before our location fell through, was set in a Comic Book Store, and mimicked the iconic scenes from 'Clerks'. Smith, who won the Golden Lion at Cannes with the film, which he shot in the convenience store he worked at, and using Credit Card Debt, inspired my no-budget filmmaking in a huge way."
