Filmmaker Statement

Ghena and Anna collaborated on this project as part of their MA practice at Northern film School. They had the idea to make a film about Life modeling, a world they never had the chance to explore:A model usually holds poses in the presence of artists while completely or partially nude. Rendering an image of the human form is one of the oldest known arts in the world. They focused on the male model figure to convey a new perspective on this form of art and explore it through the gaze of two female filmmakers. Not knowing where to begin and how to execute it, Anna with her background in art history, and interest in the way we look at art, began her search and stumbled upon Ben through the social media platform Instagram.They both decided to meet Ben and spend time with him to learn more about his story. Through their research, they discovered that his story unfolded another layer. Incorporating religion with life modeling and sexual identity will build a rich story they didn't perceive.
