Filmmaker Statement

This film is the cinematic interpretation of an ordinary casting tape. My need was to counter the cold, technical processes with something that I felt was sorely lacking here - poetry. I have deliberately chosen poems by female poets who addressed topics around 100 years ago that are just as relevant today as they were when they were written and can serve both as a contrast to the cool imagery and as inspiration for liberation from the narrow, social concepts associated with ideals of beauty and the industry behind them. In its reduced way of portrayal, the film is an approach to giving an aesthetic counterdraft towards the so-called Reality TV Shows like the Top Model Show in which the models participated.
