Filmmaker Statement

At its core, False 9 explores the lengths someone might go to for the love of their team. The idea was born from a moment in my youth, my uncle, a lifelong Spurs fan, once said to me, “I’d cut my arm off to see Tottenham win the league.” That line stayed with me. It wasn’t just about football; it was about identity and loyalty. When I began writing False 9, I kept circling one central question: How far is too far when it comes to devotion? That question became the engine behind this story. It’s not just about sport, it’s about the obsession that comes with it, and the moral lines we cross when our love for something blinds us. False 9 is my attempt to bring that spirit to life.
