Filmmaker Statement

Every girl knows a "f*ckboy," A.K.A. a serial dater who hijacks people's emotions to feel better about himself. And in this short, I explore what happens when one of these guys tries to amend his f*ckboy ways through therapy. The story is inspired by my own insecurities dating in my early 20s, and how therapy opened my eyes to the toxicity of it all. I chose to present the characters as Memojis—with permission from Apple—because of how much of modern dating happens on our phones. Which gives us an easy virtual mask to hide behind, but ironically makes it harder to face ourselves.
