Filmmaker Statement

We chose to direct this film as we felt the story of Sinead Kane was compelling, interesting and inspiring. Once we began to work with Sinead we realised she was such a unique individual, not just for her accomplishments but for her honesty and the complexity of her story. As we followed her career we realised we wanted to make this film so much more than one which just documents her successes. We discussed how little we were actually aware of the topic and assumptions we would have made with regards to living with a disability. So we were keen to give an audience a visual statement on how a visually impaired person lives their lives, what do they deal with both physically and mentally and how the disability can transcend into their memories and future plans. The film aims to present Sinead the person, a remarkably honest, refreshing account of the difficulties and achievements of one of Irelands most talented and successful athletes and academics.
