It's not everyday you get to make a music video that has a chance of making an impact. As a mental health advocate, I wanted to reframe around the complicated, sensitive subject of suicide, one that historically has been prone to mishandling in media. I've been writing and creating more around my mental health journey in recent years, hoping to help others feel less alone, less stigmatized, more an honored part of a community. With this video, I challenged myself to bring humor, boldness, and hope to Hank’s music and its powerful vulnerability. The production took place at Hyper RPG Studios in Los Angeles using a virtual production environment and motion-control camera system, and was a non-profit, in-kind effort for mental health and suicide prevention awareness.
