Filmmaker Statement

This film was inspired by my friend and the writer of all of the amazing music in this film, Asia Simone. When she released this album in 2020, it was a big deal. Not only to our circle of friends, but our community. We tried to spread the word like wildfire because she has a very unique voice and style, and I wanted to make sure everyone would hear it. When we eventually came up with the idea of doing a sort of visual album for her project, it just felt like if we were gonna make a film, we needed to make it weird and experimental but also funny, light-hearted, and hopeful. We ended up with a piece of art that we're both immensely proud of. I hope that anyone reading this, gives this film a full watch because it really is a beautiful journey about hopes, dreams, and what it means to deal with the monster inside...also known as depression.
