Filmmaker Statement

'Harvey' began as a simple comedic concept but grew into something far more profound. As I delved into subsequent drafts, Harvey's character underwent a remarkable transformation, evolving from a superficial figure to someone with a deep emotional connection to the audience. This evolution provided a unique opportunity to subvert the audience's expectations by exploring the reactions of an emotionally complex middle-aged man facing the death of his best friend. Therefore, I sought out to engage the audience not just through laughter, but through a deeper emotional connection to a character whose journey they can relate to. My hope is that 'Harvey' will leave a lasting impact, provoking thought and reflection long after the laughter and tears have subsided.
