"He" is a deeply personal project that delves into the complexities of cultural identity and familial relationships within a Chinese-American household. As an Asian female director, this film represents my inaugural endeavor into crafting a narrative that resonates with my own cultural background. The story follows Jing He, a 17-year-old Chinese-American girl whose world is upended when her father introduces a younger brother from China she never knew existed. This unexpected revelation propels Jing into a journey of resentment, confusion, and eventual acceptance as she uncovers her father's past and her brother's poignant circumstances.​ This narrative holds profound personal significance for me, reflecting my own contemplations on cultural identity and the complexities inherent in familial relationships.
