Filmmaker Statement

A love story between humanity and romance itself. A noir with a femme fatale protagonist. An apocalypse where judgement day and valentine’s day were one and the same. This pilot film shows a glimpse of a future ravaged by Heartache. Our hero, Kara, is an unfeeling woman in a world that punishes care. We see her as a child, learning to resent love for being deprived it. We see her as a teenager, turning that hate upon others, prying love however she can. We see her in her later years, dogged by her mistakes. She is a cold observer, poking a dead bird with a stick, wondering why it won’t move. This world is tinged in ice and amber. Emotions of the past hidden beneath a nearly opaque resin, but glowing nonetheless. Heartache is not without hope. Despite the danger and the walls we’ve built, there is something undying about love.
