“Hope For The Holidays” 40 min.
This participatory documentary follows the mission of two men devoted to bringing hope to families and individuals with difficult circumstances in every US state during the holidays. Dressed as Santa’s helpers, Yuri and Rodney will bless animal shelters, homes with special needs, and more this holiday season by providing gifts and devoting time to hear the stories of these individuals. Driving through everything from snow storms in remote landscapes to the weathered side streets of major cities, doors will open across America to two men committed to bringing hope for the holidays. “We found out he was autistic at 3, and of course he was born with Down syndrome. This is exciting for him because he’s never really had birthday parties or anything and we didn’t know how he’d handle the stimulation of seeing somebody. A year ago he wouldn’t allow anyone to be in his space so to see him okay and walking around is a big growth step to see so... it’s pretty awesome!” - Brittany Boccher Blake’s family lives in an enclosed neighborhood which is great because it allows him the freedom to play and wander under supervision. When we came to the door, to our surprise he ran past us into the cul-de-sac and we all came out to join him in the sun. Santa’s Scout Trooper grabbed a block set from their gifts and helped him stack blocks as we sat in a circle. After some more running around Rodney pulled out the teeball and Blake had an absolute blast.
