How to Break Up is about that narcissistic impulse to make the ugly messiness of one's life the subject of high art... or at least passable content. Maybe my favourite thing about this short is that Maddie and Harry, the lead actors, are now a couple in real-life after meeting when we cast them in this. They are now locked in their relationship forever, as breaking up now would be too meta: so romantic!
