Filmmaker Statement

I grew up with divorced parents who were unable to communicate respectfully. I wrote this film as a worst-case scenario to lacking this fundamental skill in one's relationship. Infidelity is a big theme we explore in this film. Stories around cheating can be very black and white in modern and I’m excited to explore the nuances of this topic which is as complex as humans are. In this film we might think we know who is ‘good’ and who is ‘bad’ but ultimately the aim is for you to be surprised by your own judgments. Cinema has not often used POV in this way - normally we see this used in action films as it has a video game feel to it. I was excited to experiment with this method from a more dramatic, dialogue-heavy approach, making the viewer feel as though they are part of the scene. At our premiere, one woman shared ‘I’ve had that exact conversation with my partner.’ With this film, we want to inspire people to learn how to approach difficult conversations in relationships.
