In a Manner of Speaking grew out of my exploration of shadow work and the mind–body connection, and an increasing awareness of how the parts of ourselves we repress do not disappear, but often surface through the body. The film follows a man drifting through ordinary encounters while carrying something he cannot face: a psychological burden that slowly manifests physically. I was drawn to the discomfort of this process: the difficulty of looking honestly at oneself, and the way repression fractures our ability to connect. Rather than offering explanation, the film lives in silence, gesture, and mood, reflecting the internal experience of avoidance. For me, this film is less about guilt than about the shadow. The disowned aspects of the self that return when ignored and the quiet cost of remaining divided from oneself.
