Filmmaker Statement

After being isolated in online film school for 1.5 years, this group of USC film students finally got to throw their backs into making a film together. Dozens of filmmakers poured their hearts into working on this project for 5 months because this story was communicating a message we needed to hear. In this industry, it's easy to fixate on what our future needs to look like to be successful: awards, job titles, or budget sizes. However, being apart for so long showed us that those marks of success were not what we missed. If we slow down and focus on what's in front of us, we saw a team of filmmakers working together to make something we'd be proud of. The friendships that we got to form were the most successful thing we did growing up together. This coming of age film was made by a group of kids who were hardly past 17. Still painfully aware of how dramatic we were, we tapped into that desperately passionate and lightly neurotic side of ourselves to tell this story authentically.
