Filmmaker Statement

INTERDIMENSIONAL PIZZA PORTAL is about the power of words, and how dwelling on your worries and speaking your fears aloud can manifest them into your world. We made this film with a predominantly LGBTQ+ cast and crew. It is not about "queer issues", but is about queer relational dynamics and queer magic. The actors - Grover Whitmore III and Aliee Chan, both queer - bring themselves and their own lived experience to the roles, adapting the written characters and scripted dialogue to feel more personal to themselves. This film is also personal to me: while this film is primarily a light-hearted comedy, I see it as an exploration & exorcism of my own propensity towards focusing on my worries and fears, and my subsequent fears that worrying about my fears will manifest them, and the troubling cycle of worry/fear/manifestation that follows.
